Dorie Guthrie was first exposed to glass when she was seventeen. Since graduating from Illinois State University in 2008, Guthrie has honed her glass-making skills by working with numerous artists. She has taught, taken workshops, and assisted at numerous institutions: Corning Museum of Glass, Penland School of Craft, Pittsburgh Glass Center, Pilchuck Glass School, Ajeto in the Czech Republic, and the Bavarian Forest in Germany of Bild-Werk.
Guthrie has found a niche in the New York art studio scene showing the ability to cast and fuse small and medium-sized intricately detailed works of art. She is one of a handful of practitioners in America who specializes in imagery on glass and casting materials.
Matthew Day Perez received his BFA from Illinois State University and his MFA from the Rhode Island School of Design. Continuously experimenting with the potential of combining, subverting, and exploiting materials Matthew works with a diverse set of media; glass, printed matter, digital media, and installation.
Perez has received many awards including the Fulbright, the John Rena National Endowments for the Arts Scholarship, a U.S. State Department Grant for new works, a Lois Roth Grant as well as residencies at The Corning Museum of Glass, The Creative Glass Center of America, and Pilchuck glass School. He has lectured at several academic/creative institutions both domestically and abroad in addition to numerous exhibitions in the United States, Australia, Asia, and New Zealand.
