Founded in 2005 in New York, Studio Christian Wassmann started designing lofts for artists. Today’s projects range from spaces for nonprofit arts institutions, to pavilions, commercial galleries, objects, and private houses. We collaborate internationally with architects, engineers, designers, artisans, and builders to serve our clients’ needs.
We are interested in architecture in its broadest scope, welcoming small interventions to large urban projects. Our favorite projects are the ones that serve the users and show resourcefulness; we also hope that they have a positive social impact and provide new perspectives for engaging with our surroundings – locally, globally, and universally.
The firm’s clients include Asia Art Archive, BHWF/Robert Wilson, Freitag, Jewish Museum, Lisson Gallery, Queens Museum, Supreme, threeASFOUR, and Zürich Tourism. The Sun Path House was chosen as one of the buildings of the year by Dezeen, Wallpaper and WIRED. The Rock’n’House was featured in AD magazine and on their YouTube channel. The Studio won the 2012 AIA NY New Practices Award and the 2010 Swiss Art Award. Christian Wassmann’s design objects are represented by R&Company and exhibited around the world. His first monograph and manifesto was published by Koenig Books in 2017.
