Friends x Family took shape in 2009, the product of an unlikely partnership forged inside the skeleton of the once-grand Jarmulowsky Bank building on Manhattan’s Lower East Side. As part of an ambitious rehabilitation project, real estate developer Andrew Rifkin engaged a team of skilled millworkers, who soon set up shop on the historic landmark’s second floor. Over the next decade, they helped transform the decaying structure into a luxury hotel, reclaiming what remained of its original glory. In turn, the hotel, now known as 9 Orchard, gave birth to Friends x Family.

What began as an experiment in onsite restoration has since evolved into a state-of-the-art fabrication and millwork shop in the heart of Frogtown, Los Angeles. Under the direction of master craftswoman Brooke Little, Friends x Family builds the highest quality custom furnishings and displays for retail, hospitality, and high-end residential spaces.
